Welcome to Star Goddess Astrology December 2011 Monthly Forecast The big year everyone has been talking about for years… 2012 is fast approaching, movies have been made, scores of people are stocking up for the end of the world, predictions of a spiritual shift and awakening are upon us and a planetary alignment that will bring about massive spiritual and economic and global changes. One can only guess what will happen, but predictions are it will be a significant year in many regards. Hopefully these will be enlightening and inspirational and not viewed with trepidation. The holidays are filled with the Jupiterian energy of holiday cheer, but also with the Saturian pressure of finding that right gift in lieu of the tight budgets many folks are experiencing. So let’s see how jovial Jupiter and taskmaster Saturn play out for each sign in 2012…
By mid year 2012, you finally figure where you want to go in your personal arena. You’ve worked out the rough pot holes in your relationship, feeling it’s either smooth pavement all the way or deciding to build a new road for yourself - and going solo for now… Jupiter in your 2nd house continues to bring home the money into 2012, yet it seems to go out as just as fast as it comes in… perhaps due to some binding commitments or your determination to get some lingering debts paid off. When Jupiter hops into your 3rd house in June 2012, you’ll be looking to re-network back into the social arena… feeling freer and more emotionally uplifted during the last half of 2012... December Tid Bits What is a Blue Moon? We often hear the expression “Once in a Blue Moon”. It also reminds me of the classic song “Blue Moon”. A Blue Moon is not an astrological term or aspect but rather an astronomical event. Some years have an extra full moon—thirteen instead of twelve. Since the identity of the moons was important in the ecclesiastical calendar (the Paschal Moon, for example, used to be crucial for determining the date of Easter) a year with a thirteenth moon skewed the calendar, since there were names for only twelve moons. By identifying the extra, thirteenth moon as a Blue Moon, the ecclesiastical calendar was able to stay on track. According to the more recent definition, a Blue Moon is the second full moon in a calendar month. The average span between two full moons is 29.5 days. Therefore, for a Blue Moon to occur, the first full moon must appear at or near the beginning of the month so that the second full moon will fall within the same month. The last Blue Moon occurred in December, 31 2009. It had two full moons: the first on December 2, the second on December 31—that second full moon was called the Bue Moon. Next Blue Moon is August 31, 2012, the first moon on August 2nd, the second moon on August 31, 2012. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the first reference to a Blue Moon comes from a proverb recorded in 1528: If they say the moon is blue Saying the moon was blue was equivalent to saying the moon was made of green (or cream) cheese; it indicated an obvious absurdity. In the 19th century, the phrase until a Blue Moon developed, meaning "never." The phrase, once in a Blue Moon today has come to mean "every now and then" or "rarely"—whether it gained that meaning through association with the lunar event remains uncertain.
